Only one in five kids in America has a safe place to play within walking distance of his or her home. We need 200,000 friends of GOOD to take pictures of playgrounds in their neighborhoods to help national non-profit KaBOOM! figure out where playgrounds are -- and where they should be.
Play is crucial to the health and well-being of children, but it’s disappearing from kids’ lives. Currently, only one in five kids has a safe place to play within walking distance of his or her home. To bring play back into the lives of children, we need more safe places for them to play. That’s where KaBOOM! and GOOD’s 200,000 friends come in.
To figure out where playgrounds are needed, we have to know about the playgrounds that are already out there. KaBOOM! is relying on citizens and communities to help: we need 200,000 friends of GOOD to take pictures of playgrounds in their neighborhoods and add them to the Map of Play. Once we know where the playgrounds are, we can take action to address where they aren’t.
